Unloading & Assembly; Schweizer 1-35 / N34136 1. Locate trailer so that sufficient clearance is available to position fuselage 25ft. behind trailer and clearance for the 15m wing. 2. Unlock and open rear door. Secure against side of trailer so that it will remain open when rear of trailer is dropped to ground level. 3. Unlock and open front door. Remove all assembly accessories and position near rear of trailer in out of the way position. 4. Find angle iron support bar. Remove trailer tongue hinge locking pin. Raise front of trailer so that rear of trailer rests on ground. Position angle iron support bar and secure with yellow 3/8" pins. 5. Position plywood ramp support at rear of trailer. Drop aluminum trailer ramp and adjust position of wooden support ramp so that ramp will support weight of fuselage, etc. 6. Remove plywood stabilizer saddle and place in safe location. 7. Remove tailwheel anchoring pin and place in secure location. Roll out fuselage to a position just clear of the ramp. 8. Remove canopy cover and store in an out of the way location. Unlock and raise canopy. 9. If not already there place tool tray on seat. 10. Pull turtle deck pins and remove turtle deck. Place in safe location. 11. Clean and lubricate wing spar pins and position on battery tray. 12. Move fuselage to a position approximately 25ft. behind trailer. 13. Check to see that rubber blocks are in position to prevent wing from rolling back when wing spar dolly locking pins are removed. Remove wing spar dolly locking pins and replace after shifting wing sufficiently rearward for pin holes to clear steel framework. Pins are located at the forward edge of the steel framework at the front of the trailer. 14. If available, position wing handling dolly behind trailer so that RH wing can be slipped into sleeve. Care must be taken to not allow wing to drag against trailer frame as wing is removed from trailer. 15. Roll wing into position at RH side of fuselage. Remove wing nut, flap rod brkt. and bungee cord. Lift and rotate wing to flying position. Place spar on fuselage between positioning blocks. Note that spar must be lifted over the spar rivets as wing is shifted into position. Care must be taken not to allow skin to contact the flap actuating pin. Skin can be damaged by sharp end of actuating pin. 16. Insert RH drag pin. 17. Position wing stand. Check to determine that wing tip is forward. If available install wing walker wheel on RH wing. 18. Repeat procedure for installing LH wing. 19. Install LH drag pin. Install spar pins. The assembly tool can be used to draw in the wings so that spar pin holes are aligned. It will probably be necessary to provide some upward pressure at the tips to align pin holes. Install safety clips. 20. Hook up aileron push rods and install safety clips. 21. Lower landing gear. It will probably be necessary to lift the rear of the fuselage for lowering clearance. Lifting can be done at the stabilizer positioning pins. 22. Remove fuselage saddle locking pins. It may be necessary to roll main wheel on to the green plastic splash block to release load on locking pins. Roll saddle from under fuselage. 23. At this time it is probably a good idea to relocate saddle and other accessories. As appropriate, place saddles in trailer. 24. Roll partially assembled glider up to rear of trailer. 25. Remove leading edge wing saddles and aileron/flap locks and store. 26. Install battery and Barograph. Turn on main switch to check radio, vario and gear warning. 27. Install turtle deck. Position foam sound blockers. 28. Carry stabilizer saddle to rear of glider. Open stabilizer locking pin. Install RH stabilizer. Install LH stabilizer. Close locking pin, safety and close locking pin door. Return stabilizer saddle to trailer. 29. Tape stabilizer and wings. Suggest that tape be installed on stabilizer and rear turtle deck tape be installed on same trip to rear of fuselage. 30. Remove tool tray from cockpit and store. 31. Check panel; i.e. altimeter, clock, airspeed and Cambridge. Cycle Cambridge to check all functions and particularly pilot weight. 32. Close canopy and install canopy cover. Parachute, charts, etc. can be loaded before canopy is closed if desired. 33. Install towbar. 34. When hooking up towbar, care must be taken that vehicle is positioned squarely behind glider so that elevators will not be damaged by rear of vehicle.
