LOADING SCHWEIZER 1-35 / N34136 INTO TRAILER

1.  Install nose plug and rudder lock.

2.  Remove wing tape and turtle deck; store turtle deck in safe location.

3.  Remove battery and barograph; store in safe location.

4.  Place assembly tool tray in seat .

5.  Remove aileron pins to disconnect aileron push rods; replace pins in aileron actuator for       storage.

6.  Remove safety pins from main spar connecting pins; clip to aileron safety pins for storage.

7.  Remove stabilizer tape and locking pin.

8   Remove LH horizontal stabilizer and place in plywood carrier; repeat for RH stabilizer. Store in safe location until ready to load in trailer.  NOTE:  LH must be removed first.

9.  Locate glider approximately 25ft. behind trailer ramp.  Trailer must be positioned with rear doorway and ramp on the ground.  Angle iron bar with holes is stored in front end of trailer for blocking front end of trailer up so that rear is on ground.

10.  Secure wing leading edge saddles with tie-down pins.  Secure aileron/flap locks with bungee cords.

11.  Move fuselage dolly into position and secure by inserting pins from inside the cockpit.  Insert safety pins outside of dolly frame. It may be necessary to raise fuselage by rolling the main wheel on to the green splash block. See item # 13.

12.  Retract the wheel.  It may be necessary to lift the rear of the fuselage for retracting clearance.

13.  Place wing stand under right wing to level wings.  If available leave wing walker in place on RH wing. It may be desireable to place wing stand under wing before installing fuselage dolly.

14.  If available slip wing handling dolly on to left wing.

15.  Remove main spar pins and LH drag pin.  It may be necessary to provide some upward pressure at the wing tips to remove the main spar pins.  Leave RH drag pin in place until ready to remove RH wing.  Store wing pins in tool tray.

16.  Remove LH wing.  The assembly handle can be used to assist in moving the wing the first inch or two.

17.  Rotate wing to a leading edge down position and place on wing spar dolly.  Make certain that dolly pin is in small hole; not the spar pin hole.

18.  Secure with wing nut, flap rod bracket and small bungee cord.

19.  Load left wing in trailer; secure wing  spar dolly with safety pin at framework in front end of trailer.  Make certain that pin on leading edge saddle slides into the fork on floor of trailer.

20.  Remove RH drag pin.  Repeat procedure for removal and loading of RH wing.  Assembly tool can be used to assist in moving the wing the first inch or two.  Note that the spar must be lifted over the spar rivets as spar is removed from the fuselage.


22.  Replace and lock turtle deck.

23.  If glider is to be transported remove all loose items from the cockpit.

24.  Close and lock canopy; install canopy cover.

25.  Load fuselage into trailer and secure tailwheel anchoring pin.

26.  Load stabilizer saddle into trailer.

27.  Close and lock rear trailer door.

28.  As necessary, load any support equipment into front end of trailer and secure.

29.  If trailer is to be transported, remove angle iron support bar at front of trailer and store and secure in front end of trailer.  If keys are available lock front trailer door.
